Post 4- Vringo Suing Microsoft for IP Infringement

I just read an article about how a company called Vringo is now suing Microsoft for intellectual property infringement for 2 patents that relate to the ad placements on search results. Last year, Vringo was awarded $30 million in damages by Google, AOL, Gannett, IAC and Target, but they had originally sued for damages stacking up as high as $700 million. The CTO/President created one of the patents and it really struck me how much value he is bringing to his organization. I’ll expand more on this on my Youtube channel by the end of the week, at http://www.youtube.com/user/MrNoahHandel/

  1. Noah! The former CEO of Vringo came to speak to TAMID and is a major supporter of the organization.

  2. Hey Noah. What specifically about ad placements on search results is Microsoft being sued on?

    1. Is Google also being sued for their ad placement? How are Bing's and Google's ad placement different?

    2. Hey Sumer, unfortunately the article didn't really go into specific detail about the nature of the intellectual property infringement. Goes to show how sometimes even the smallest details or features can be protected by patent law. Clearly, there's a lot of money to be made in the patent litigation business.
